The Nigeria Police Force, Zone One Headquarters, Kano, has arrested one Mr. Nura Hussaini following a formal petition by a Kano-based businessman, Zubairu Dalhatu Malami, over allegations of defamation, threats to life, harassment, and breach of trust.
In a statement issued on Monday, Malami confirmed that the arrest followed his petition to the Police, seeking justice over a series of defamatory and threatening acts allegedly committed by the suspect.
According to him, the case involves the circulation of false statements designed to tarnish his image among family members, business partners, and associates. He also accused Mr. Hussaini of spreading the same through Facebook and Instagram posts, as well as direct WhatsApp messages, one of which, he claimed, threatened to “destroy my life and wealth.”
Malami alleged further that the suspect engaged in harassment of his family, including his wife, and breached his trust after being introduced to his associates in good faith.
“I am seeking a comprehensive police investigation and prosecution, a restraining order for my family’s safety, and a public apology with full retraction of all defamatory statements published online,” Malami said.
He also demanded damages for the psychological, reputational, and economic harm caused by the suspect’s alleged actions.
The businessman commended the Police authorities for their swift response and professional conduct, noting that the arrest underscores the seriousness with which the Force handles such matters.
“The arrest of Mr. Nura Hussaini demonstrates that no one is above the law. I am confident that the ongoing investigation will uncover the truth and ensure justice is served,” he added.
Malami emphasized that his action was not merely for personal redress but also a stand against cyberbullying, defamation, and betrayal of trust, assuring that he would pursue the matter through lawful and transparent means.
As of press time, police sources confirmed that investigation into the case is ongoing, while the suspect remains in custody at the Zone One Headquarters in Kano.
