Condemnation of the Gamboru Market Explosion and Solidarity with Victims
It is with deep sorrow and unwavering resolve that I condemn the heinous attack carried out by a suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber at Gamboru Market in Maiduguri on Wednesday, 24th December 2025. This senseless act of violence claimed the lives of innocent civilians and left dozens injured, casting a shadow over a season meant for peace, reflection, and unity.
On a statement signed by the peace Ambassador, Zubair Dalhatu Malami, has extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and pray for the peaceful repose of the departed souls. May Almighty Allah grant them eternal rest and comfort their loved ones in this time of grief. I also offer prayers for the swift recovery of those injured and commend the medical teams working tirelessly to save lives.
Malami has salute the prompt response of the Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, the Nigeria Police EOD team, sister security agencies, the Borno State Government, and NEMA for their coordinated efforts to secure the area and prevent further harm. Their courage and professionalism are deeply appreciated.
This attack is a painful reminder of the urgent need to strengthen community resilience, early warning systems, and inclusive peacebuilding efforts across Northern Nigeria. As Global Peace Ambassador, I reaffirm my commitment to working with all stakeholders—traditional leaders, youth groups, civil society, and government institutions—to promote dialogue, healing, and sustainable peace.
Peace Ambassador Zubairu Dalhatu Malami has urged all citizens to remain vigilant, united, and security conscious during this festive season. Let us reject fear and hatred and instead embrace compassion, tolerance, and collective action against violence.
Peace is not just the absence of war—it is the presence of justice, dignity, and opportunity for all.
