HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT REMAINS TOP PRIORITY OF THIS ADMINISTRATION
— GOV NAMADI

Governor Malam Umar Namadi has reaffirmed that human capital
development remains a core pillar of
stressing that sustainable progress can only be achieved through
continuous investment in people, values, and institutional capacity.

The governor made this while delivering his address at the closing
ceremony of a five-day life skills development training organized by
the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, in partnership with the
Jigawa State Government, held at the Manpower Development Institute,
Dutse.

Delivering his remarks, Governor Namadi noted that the training aligns
with his administration’s commitment to building a disciplined,
skilled, and values-driven workforce capable of responding to the
social and economic challenges of understanding.

“Our administration has consistently placed human capital development
at the core of our agenda, understanding that a well-equipped and
skilled population is fundamental to sustainable livelihoods, poverty
reduction, and economic growth. By supporting programs such as this,
we are actively closing the gap between potential and opportunity,
enabling our citizens to play a vital role in advancing the prosperity
and progress of Jigawa State,” he said.

“Since the inception of our administration, we have remained committed
to empowering our youth by prioritizing skills acquisition and
entrepreneurial growth. We have strategically directed resources
towards initiatives that combat unemployment, nurture
entrepreneurship, and promote self-reliance. Notably, through the
Jigawa State Youth Empowerment and Employment Agency, our government
has implemented transformative vocational training programs spanning
diverse sectors such as ICT, agriculture, livestock development, and
micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises.”

He emphasized that leadership and public service must be guided by
responsibility, integrity, and accountability, urging participants to
see the knowledge acquired during the programme as a call to service
rather than mere certification.

The governor encouraged beneficiaries to apply the skills gained—such
as critical thinking, leadership, communication, and adaptability—in
their workplaces, communities, and personal lives, stressing that real
development begins when learning translates into action.

“I urge you to imbibe the lessons learned and apply them diligently
for the betterment of your lives, communities, and the state at large.
The knowledge you have acquired is a treasure that must not lie
dormant. Let it inspire you to innovate, collaborate, and contribute
to the socioeconomic development of the state.”

Governor Namadi further stated that his administration has
deliberately prioritized capacity building, empowerment, and
continuous training, particularly within the civil service, noting
that effective governance depends largely on a competent and motivated
workforce.

He disclosed that since the inception of his administration, over
400,000 youths and women have benefited from various empowerment and
skills-development programmes implemented by the Jigawa State
Government through strategic partnerships and targeted interventions.

Governor Namadi commended the Foundation for its sustained
contribution to leadership development and human capital growth across
Northern Nigeria, describing the organisation as a valuable partner in
promoting ethical leadership and capacity building.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the
Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, Alhaji Babangida Aliyu (Talban
Minna), explained that the training was inspired by the leadership
values of the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, whom he described as a symbol of
integrity and selfless service.

He said that the programme was meant to remind participants that
“leadership is a test,” adding that accountability remains a moral
obligation both before the people and before God.
