Federal House Speaker Emphasizes Unity as Foundation for Development
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas Iyan Zazzau (PhD), has described unity and mutual love as the key pillars for the development of any nation or community.
This was made known through the Chairman of the Northern Regional Caucus in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Sardauna Kasar Hausa Mai Tuta (OON), who represented the Speaker at the annual event marking the launch of the calendar of the Lere Development Association, held in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas was unable to attend the event in person as he was participating in a meeting of the North-West Development Commission taking place on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in Kaduna.
Speaking at the event, Rt. Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa said the relative peace enjoyed in Lere is a result of the strong foundation laid by the community association in promoting quality development and tackling criminal activities. He attributed this success to the prayers of religious leaders, traditional rulers, wise counsel of elders and leaders, including contributions from the former Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ismaila Yusuf, despite the area’s diversity in religion, opinions, and language.
Hon. Doguwa disclosed that the leadership of Lere would formally present the Speaker with the community’s challenges, which include inadequate electricity supply, shortage of potable water, and, most critically, the poor condition of the road linking the Kano border through Saminaka to Lere. He noted that the road poses serious difficulties for farmers, traders, teachers, and pregnant women. He also highlighted the need for job creation opportunities for women and youths.
He further stated that the Speaker has requested the submission of documents of five graduate youths from Lere to facilitate their employment in government service.

Rt. Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa also emphasized the strong and cordial relationship between Lere Local Government Area and Doguwa Local Government Area.
In a show of support, Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas Iyan Zazzau (PhD) purchased the Lere Development Association calendar for the sum of ₦5 million as the Grand Patron of the launch, while Rt. Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa personally purchased his own copy for ₦1 million in cash.
Rt. Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa concluded by commending the eng Suleman Umar Lere Emir of Lere and members of his council for promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among the people of the area.
