Doguwa Urges Marketers to Submit Legal Challenges of PIA to N’ASS for Amendment.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), Honourable Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has called on petroleum and Gas marketers to formally forward any legal challenges they are facing under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) to the National Assembly for possible amendment.
Honourable Doguwa made the call at the Nigeria 2025 Licensing Round Pre-Bid Conference held at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
He explained that laws are made by human beings and, as such, are subject to review and amendment over time, especially where deficiencies are identified or when new realities demand changes.
According to him, oil and gas marketers have an important role to play in strengthening the Petroleum Industry Act by identifying grey areas and operational challenges and bringing them to the attention of the relevant committees of the National Assembly for legislative action.
The lawmaker further noted that the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) remains committed to its oversight responsibilities, aimed at ensuring effective service delivery, transparency, and efficiency in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
Honourable Doguwa reassured stakeholders that the National Assembly is open to constructive engagement that will improve the legal and regulatory framework governing the petroleum industry for the benefit of investors and the Nigerian economy.
